Newcastle United and West Ham United's grounds have been raided in a fraud investigation. It is understood Newcastle's managing director Lee Charnley was among "several men within professional football" who were arrested. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) said it had deployed 180 officers across the UK and France. The BBC understands the suspected income tax and National Insurance fraud amounts to £5m. HMRC said it searched premises in the north east and south east of England, and seized business records, financial records, computers and mobile phones. Football's tense history with HMRC West Ham's London Olympic Stadium and Newcastle's St James' Park were among the locations raided. HMRC officers also visited offices belonging to Chelsea FC "in connection with its wider investigation", a club spokesman confirmed. Paga, Ghana’s border town close to Burkina Faso, has been thrown into a state of shock after a proprietor of a filling station pulled out a pistol and lodged a bullet in the head of a pump attendant at a rival filling station. Osman Paregavwa, who is now in police cells, is said to have stormed Quantum Petroleum, a filling station located along the Navrongo-Paga Road, around 9:30pm Monday to stop people from patronising fuel at that station. A founding Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has accused government of witch hunting Ibrahim Mahama after the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) invited the latter for questioning on Tuesday. The two suspects Two persons have been arrested at Agbogbloshie by the Greater Accra Regional Police command for possessing 500 rounds of ammunition. They are Imoro Abdul Wahab, 25, a scrap dealer, and Kwaku Amankwa, 58, a self-acclaimed registered arms dealer. The arrest, according to the command, was executed based on intelligence it had picked up Tuesday, April 18 2017 with the help of a resident there. The Bank of Ghana has strongly debunked public assertions that the new GH¢5.00 commemorative banknotes have features of evil worship. According to the Central Bank, the production of new currencies involved a lot of technicalities and nobody has the time to play around with spiritual issues in the issuance of new banknotes or coins for the country. It has therefore advised Ghanaians not to associate any spiritual meanings with the security features on both sides of the new GH¢5.00 banknotes.
